Matt Mitrione has filed an official appeal of his January loss to Travis Browne.
MMA journalist Duane Finley first reported that Mitrione has sent in an appeal to the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission in hopes of having his loss to Browne overturned.
The 37-year-old Mitrione (9-5) suffered a TKO setback at UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Cruz. It was the second straight defeat for The Ultimate Fighter alum and completed his current UFC contract.
Mitrione has spent his entire pro MMA career competing inside the Octagon, scoring three straight finishes over Shawn Jordan, Derrick Lewis and Gabriel Gonzaga in 2014.
Browne landed several eye pokes on Mitrione, leaving him without the use of his right eye in the second round of their fight.
