An injury to Matt Brown has scrapped the planned main event for The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 Finale, FOXSports.com reported Monday night.
Brown suffered an ankle injury in training that will keep him out of the welterweight bout vs. Gastelum. No word yet if the UFC will find a replacement to keep the former Ultimate Fighter winner on the November 21 card.
After defeating Tim Means, Brown (20-13) was looking to continue to re-ascent up the ladder. He had won seven in a row before dropping back-to-back decisions to Johny Hendricks and current champion Robbie Lawler.
Brown, along with his wife, and Gastelum had an exchange via social media over weight-cutting and the UFC’s decision to help Gastelum by hiring a nutritionist. Despite all that, both extended the olive branch.
