Mark Hunt hesitated accepting a bout with Antonio “Big Foot” Silva, as he didn’t have interest in fighting a former training partner. In the end, Hunt knew he had to accept the fight to advance his position in the heavyweight division.
“It’s an opportunity,” said Hunt. “He’s a Top 4 fighter. I don’t even think I’m in the Top 10 at all. You both want to be the best fighter on the planet and it’s another step forward for me.”
Silva will enter the fight off a quick loss to champ Cain Velasquez. It was the second time Velasquez finished Silva in the opening round.
Hunt was unable to defeat former champion Junior dos Santos earlier in the year. Post-fight, Hunt spent time in the hospital for an infection to his leg.
They are set for UFC Fight Night 33 on December 7. It comes from Australia’s Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
