Lyoto Machida stepped up and decided to be the replacement against Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night 30. An injury to Michael Bisping required the change. In Machida’s middleweight debut, he’s looking to erase a close defeat to Phil Davis.
“I always go to win decisively,” said Machida to MMA Fighting. “I had a [foot] injury and couldn’t show what I wanted in my last fight, but I’ll be different this time.”
Before losing to Davis, Machida had a pair of wins in Ryan Bader and Dan Henderson. The Henderson win took heat as neither fighter really engaged.
After a year away, Munoz returned with a decision win over Tim Boetsch.
They headline UFC Fight Night 30 on October 26. It’s from England’s Phones 4u Arena.
