Lyoto Machida-Michael Bisping? Both Sides Are Interested

Lyoto Machida has his sights set on a return to action in early 2016.

And he believes Michael Bisping would make for an ideal opponent.

According to a report on “UFC Tonight,” the former UFC light heavyweight champion has decided to take some time off and recover from losses to Chris Weidman, Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero in the past year. He’s also had surgeries after all of those losses that were grouped around a first round finish of C.B. Dollaway

Machida (22-7) is 3-3 in his last six, having bested Gegard Mousasi and Mark Munoz to earn his shot at Weidman for the middleweight title. He lost the light heavyweight belt to Jon Jones in 2011.

Bisping (27-7) is on a two-fight win streak and is 3-1 over his last four, losing only to Rockhold during that time. While co-hosting the FOX Sports 1 show, “The Count” mentioned he’d be “interested” in a meeting with Machida.

“I have a lot of respect for him,” he added.
