Luke Rockhold Suffers MCL Tear In Training, Out Of UFC 166

As FightLine reported on Wednesday, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold was forced out of a planned UFC 166 encounter with Tim Boetsch after suffering a knee injury.

Following the report, Rockhold took to Twitter to explain just what kind of injury he suffered.

“Sorry guys tore my MCL sparring on (Friday), out 6 weeks,” Rockhold wrote. “If there was anyway I could fight I would. Was really looking forward to this fight.”

CB Dollaway, a former Ultimate Fighter runner-up, has agreed to step in and face Boetsch in Houston next month. The card, which goes down from the Toyota Center, features Rockhold’s AKA teammates Cain Velasquez and Daniel Cormier in action.

Velasquez, the UFC heavyweight champion, faces Junior dos Santos, while Cormier meets Roy Nelson.

Rockhold lost his Octagon debut earlier this year to Vitor Belfort in Brazil.
