Luke Rockhold has one man in mind for his next fight: Vitor Belfort. And the former Strikeforce champion does not believe for a minute that Belfort is a clean fighter.
Rockhold, coming off a second straight first round finish over Tim Boetsch this past April, was knocked out by Belfort in Brazil last year. The loss remains one that he takes issue with, as Belfort has since been taken off the use of TRT.
“I don’t believe anything the guy says and I don’t believe he’s clean,” said Rockhold, in an interview with Fight Now TV. “I think he’s been dirty his whole career. I’m going to go out there and say that.
“I’m going to be myself. I’m tired of holding back. I’m going to be real.”
Rockhold added that Belfort would be his “No. 1 pick” to fight next, but also realized that another middleweight could be paired up with him including the likes of Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Gegard Mousasi, Mark Munoz or even Michael Bisping.
But in regards to Belfort, the battle remains very personal.
“I like clean fighters. I like clean sport,” he said. “I always fight clean and I always have and always will. I don’t have a lot of respect for cheaters.”
