Looking Ahead To April: Four UFC Events In Store

It’s going to be a busy month for the Octagon in April, as four events take place in three different countries.

The UFC will make a stop in Virginia this coming weekend, head over to Poland after that, return for a card in New Jersey before touching down in Montreal.

Also, Invicta FC returns, Bellator’s Will Brooks defends his lightweight title and another World Series of Fighting are is on the docket.

All in all, it’s going to be a crazy month of MMA once again, and FightLine will have coverage of all of it for you.

Here’s a look at what’s on the upcoming cards in April:

UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas/April 4

We’ll kick things off with an early event, as the action starts at 10:30 a.m. ET to avoid going up against March Madness and the NCAA Men’s Tournament Final Four.

Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas take top billing, as the former title contenders meet in a key featherweight scrap.

Al Iaquinta looks to keep his winning ways intact against Jorge Masvidal, while Michael Chiesa – who bested Iaquinta a few years back in The Ultimate Fighter finals – battles Mitch Clarke.

The card also features the return of former TUF winner Julianna Pena from a nasty knee injury, Clay Guida vs. Robbie Peralta and Dustin Poirier back at 155 pounds. On the prelims, one-time title contenders Liz Carmouche and Gray Maynard are set for action.

Bellator 136/April 10

Brooks, who finished 2014 with two victories over Michael Chandler, makes his first official title defense vs. Dave Jansen in California live on Spike TV.

The card will also see Joe Schilling return to the cage, as the multi-combat sport fighter battles Rafael Carvalho, along with lightweight contenders Marcin Held and Alexander Sarnavskiy going to war.

Joey Beltran makes the move all the way down to middleweight after competing at heavyweight and 205 pounds to tackle Brian Rogers on the prelims.

World Series of Fighting: Branch vs. Markes/April 10

The WSOF will go head-to-head with Bellator, as David Branch takes part in the light heavyweight tournament against Ronny Markes. Branch is the current WSOF middleweight champion.

The card also features Melvin Guillard meeting Ozzy Dugulubgov and one-time title contender Nick Newell going up against Joe Condon.

Former NCAA wrestling heavyweight champion Steve Mocco is set for action, along with crime-fighter/MMA fighter “Phoenix Jones” making his WSOF debut.
