Legacy FC 51 went down Friday night from Minnesota, with the main card airing live on AXS TV.
UFC president Dana White and former champion Matt Serra were on hand to catch the action, filming possible scenes for a future episode of “Lookin’ for a Fighter.”
Manny Vazquez gave White and his crew something to ponder, scoring an upset of Ricardo Lucas Ramos in the first round to become the Legacy FC bantamweight champion. Vazquez locked in a rear-naked choke at 1:45 to win the belt previously held by Thomas Almeida.
In the co-main event, Brock Larson sent himself out with the perfect retirement gift, finishing Travis Coyle. Larson was caught in a deep guillotine choke early in the first round, but escaped and finished his career with a win.
During the early portion of the card, Cody East kept his hot streak alive, picking up his fifth consecutive finish with a 40-second TKO over Kevin Asplund.
Also, ex-UFC fighter Tateki Matsuda added a second win to his resume in recent months, submitting Joe Pearson. Another former UFC competitor, Jacob Volkmann, earned a decision over previously-unbeaten Antonio Trocoli.
