King Mo Lawal: If Up To Me, I’m Putting Tito Ortiz Out

Former Strikeforce champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has Tito Ortiz zeroed in on his radar.

Lawal, coming off another convincing victory inside the Bellator cage, recently told Submission Radio about his desire to fight Ortiz. Both were on the Bellator 131 card and engaged in some heated talk after their respective fights.

“If it was up to me, I’d put him out. He won’t fight me so I don’t want to talk about it because I know he ain’t gonna fight me. He’s talking all this stuff about ‘He lost to Quinton (Jackson), we all saw it,'” Lawal said. “Yeah OK, you saw what? We all saw, him (Jackson) asking for a rematch because he knows he lost. You know, come on, but for him to say that he thinks I lost to Quinton, then I might as well think that hey, I guess he (Ortiz) thought he lost to Forrest Griffin too then; because he was awfully mad both times he fought Forrest, you know what I’m saying? So come on, for him to actually tell me that he thinks I lost to Quinton, I guess he lost to (expletive) Forrest too.”

Lawal (14-4) has posted a 6-3 mark since signing with Bellator, including a pair of losses to current champion Emanuel Newton. He explained his reason for calling out Ortiz, mentioning that he doesn’t believe the bout will ever happen because of the UFC Hall of Famer.

“The dude was running his mouth, posting dumb pictures about me vs. Quinton, me vs. Quinton. Dude had two gorillas on stage talking about Mo vs. Quinton, and then he was talking behind my back saying ‘well fighting Mo does nothing for me. He lost to Quinton, blah blah blah,” he said. “And when I saw him he was like shaking my hand and trying to be smiling to my face. If you don’t like me, don’t like me. Just keep it real. If I don’t like you, I’m not gonna talk to you? He’s fake. He’s fake. Keep it real. Don’t be a slick side hater. Don’t be slick with it, be real.

“Here’s how it happens. It’s easy. (Bellator president Scott) Coker goes “hmmm the fans want Mo vs. Tito. Okay. Alright that sounds good. OK, what do you think of Mo as heel? Oh That’d be great, do good numbers. Okay, I’m gonna call Mo. Mo you want the fight?’ ‘Yeah I want the fight.’ ‘Tito you want the fight?’ ‘No.’ That’s what will happen, and that’s why it won’t happen.”
