Khabib Nurmagomedov made it known following his most recent win that he wants to compete for the UFC title.
While the belt is currently tied up, Nurmagomedov sees another viable challenger sitting out there, needing an opponent.
“UFC I want to fight TJ Grant on Feb. 1 in Newark, NJ,” the fighter posted on Twitter. “I have tons of fans in NJ and they are coming to support me.”
Grant, the No. 1 contender, has been forced out of two planned title matches. A concussion in training is to blame for both fight cancellations.
Since news of his exit, Grant has made it known that if the UFC believes he needs to fight again before competing for the belt, he will be willing to do that.
Nurmagomedov is a perfect 21-0 in his career, including recent UFC wins over Pat Healy and Abel Trujillo.
