UFC president Dana White appeared live on Wednesday’s edition of “The Herd” on FOX Sports 1 to address the Conor McGregor issue.
White stated that the promotion could move forward with McGregor vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 200 if the UFC featherweight champion reaches out to him soon. The bout was scrapped on Tuesday after McGregor declined a planned media tour.
Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo are set to meet for the interim title in July, but White said that could be for the vacant featherweight strap if McGregor remains retired as he stated on social media.
White mentioned that the promotion was putting “$10 million” into planned commercials and promotional material for McGregor vs. Diaz starting this weekend with shoots and media stops in Las Vegas, Stockton, California and New York.
He added that McGregor would then be free to return to Iceland to resume his training after the appearance in New York.
White also said he has no issues with McGregor and dealt only with his manager on Tuesday during this whole ordeal.
