Josh Thomson tried to play matchmaker for himself and Ross Pearson over the weekend, but Joe Silva said no.
Thomson and Pearson verbally agreed to a lightweight fight later this year, but when Thomson approached Silva about the bout, he said he was “not interested.”

Thomson proceeded to say that he’s asked for both Benson Henderson and Anthony Pettis “since all I’ve heard from fans is I should got my title shot or beat Benson.”
He later added that the reason for the no-go on a Pearson bout was “(Pearson) isn’t ranked and I am. Funny, the last 3 fights they tried given me were unranked guys.”
It remains to be seen when Thomson – and Pearson for that matter – will return to action.
Back in 2013, Thomson was declared the No. 1 contender after defeating Nate Diaz via TKO. However, an injury forced Pettis to the sidelines and the former Strikeforce champion opted to meet Henderson in 2014.
He lost that via split decision, and was also bested by Bobby Green – again via split decision – last July.
