Josh Burkman Asks WSOF For His Release, Says Promotion “Did Me Wrong Contractually”

Josh Burkman is a veteran of the MMA game, so he fully understands when he feels he has been played.

Burkman took to Twitter Thursday night to let it be known that he is not happy with his current home – World Series of Fighting – and wants to be released.

“I can’t work on going anywhere else unless WSOF releases me,” Burkman posted on Twitter. “If so, we will start fresh somewhere else.”

He also responded to a few posts, saying that “I don’t want WSOF’s belt” and that “I feel they did me wrong contractually. I asked to be released.”

Burkman (27-10) fought just this past weekend at WSOF 9, defeating Tyler Stinson via first round knockout. He lost a championship match to Steve Carl in late 2013 that snapped a five-fight win streak.

From 2005-08 Burkman competed for the UFC, going 5-5. That included fights vs. Jon Fitch, Drew Fickett, Josh Neer and Mike Swick.
