Joseph Duffy put his name into the UFC history books Thursday night at UFC Fight Night 90.
Duffy connected with a right-hand that floored Mitch Clarke, following up with a quick rear-naked choke submission. The stoppage came in just 25 seconds, making it the fourth-fastest finish in lightweight history.
“It feels good to be back fighting,” Duffy said. “(The plan) was the same as well. I was confident in my game.”
In improving to 15-2, Duffy made his case for a possible fight later this year at Madison Square Garden when the UFC invades New York City for the first time.
The 25-year-old Irish fighter got back in the win column after a January loss to Dustin Poirier via decision. Prior to that, Duffy had won four in a row, including two with the UFC.
