It’s not Cowboy Stadium, but Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor have a date.
According to a report by Yahoo! Sports, the two will meet to unify the featherweight title on December 12 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Aldo, the reigning titleholder, was forced out of a planned fight vs. McGregor due to an injury. The Brazilian is 25-1 in his career and a perfect 7-0 inside the Octagon.
McGregor (18-2) scored his sixth UFC victory when he bested Chad Mendes for the interim title earlier this month.
The UFC put a lot of time and money into the planned UFC 189 main event, including a press tour that took both Aldo and McGregor all across the globe.
UFC president Dana White also confirmed that the Ronda Rousey-Miesha Tate bout for the female bantamweight belt “isn’t going to be on” the same card as Aldo-McGregor.
