Jordan Parsons was planning on putting together the final pieces for his Bellator 154 fight next Saturday night this week.
Instead, the 25-year-old Bellator MMA fighter will be laid to rest after an alleged hit-and-run incident.
Parson passed away on Wednesday, three days after he was struck by a vehicle in Florida.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a release. “Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around.
“He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”
The Delray Beach Police Department continues to investigate, as they are asking for the help of the public in finding a silver Range Rover vehicle believed to be the one that hit Parsons.
