Jonathan Wilson’s Octagon debut was as planned, knocking out Chris Dempsey at UFC Fight Night 73.
Wilson, who was scheduled to fight Corey Anderson before an injury forced him out, destroyed Dempsey and earned the fourth-fastest debut at light heavyweight in the modern-era of the UFC.
“He got knocked out with the setup,” Wilson said. “I was setting something up.”
Wilson (7-0) hit Dempsey with a straight shot that dropped him, following up with a hammer-fist right to the face. It was all over from there and in just 50 seconds.
“I couldn’t walk, I was floating,” he said. “I saved everything for the fight. I saved it all to let it go in here.”
Wilson trains with fellow UFC fighter Lorenz Larkin.
