UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was an interested observer in Wednesday night’s main event at UFC Fight Night 28.
That’s because UFC president Dana White had previously stated Glover Teixeira could be in line to become the next contender with a win over Ryan Bader. Teixeira did just that, overcoming a couple of interesting exchanges to score a first round finish and cement his status as the next challenger.
Jones, while preparing for his upcoming title fight with Alexander Gustafsson later this month, took to Twitter to discuss the match.
“Bader got way too excited,” Jones said. “Cost him that fight…Gotta stay relaxed out there.”
Jones will face Gustafsson in Toronto at UFC 165.
“Bones” was also asked his thoughts on Teixeira, to which he responded by comparing him to former challenger Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
“I think he’s a lot like Rampage just with better grappling,” Jones wrote.
