UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has sounded off on his thoughts concerning potential challengers Glover Teixeira and Daniel Cormier.
Now, “Bones” has decided upon another idea concerning the two fighters: pairing them up in a No. 1 contender match.
“I think that’d be a phenomenal fight,” said Jones, on UFC Tonight recently. “I think Glover will win that fight. Cormier is a pretty decent wrestler, but he’s not ready for high-level fighting in the light heavyweight division.”
Jones will defend his title Saturday against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 in Toronto. With a win, he will surpass Tito Ortiz for most successful defenses of the belt.
Cormier is currently lined up for one more fight at heavyweight, but plans to move down to 205 following. He is a former Olympic wrestler for the U.S.
