UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones issued a statement via FOX Sports 1’s “American’s Pregame” concerning his failed drug test.
It was reported on Tuesday that Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites during a December drug test. He has entered himself into a rehab facility just days after defending his title vs. Daniel Cormier.
“I want to apologize to my fiance, my children, as well as my mother, father and brothers for the mistake that I made,” the statement read. “I also want to apologize to the UFC, my coaches, my sponsors and equally important to my fans.
“I am taking this treatment program very seriously.”
The UFC and president Dana White each issued statements of their own concerning the news earlier in the day.
