UFC president Dana White told members of the media on Monday that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will not be defending his title in February at UFC 169 vs. Glover Teixeira.
“That was never, ever a done deal,” said White, during a conference call. “That’s going to be later. That was never a done deal. Our (public relations) people put it out, and they shouldn’t have.”
White added that the bout is likely to happen in March, and reiterated plans for Jones-Alexander Gustafsson to face each other again should both win.
Gustafsson is expected to compete early in 2014 in either Sweden or London.
Jones seemed like a perfect fit for the card, which takes place on Super Bowl weekend in New Jersey.
