In a fight that may go down as the greatest either man has, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson continue to reflect.
Jones earned a decision victory over Gustafsson last month, earning another successful title defense.
In the eyes of many, though, the bout should have went to “The Mauler.” And, while most pushed for an immediate rematch, other plans are in place.
That hasn’t stopped the two from discussing the fight with one another and others, as they did on Twitter Friday.
“Sitting here at lunch talking about the fight with my friends,” Jones wrote. “Can’t help but say, I got TONS of respect for Gus.”
Gustafsson noticed the kind words and responded, posting, “I got tons of respect for u too!!! I really hope we can have that rematch very soon and give the fans what they ask for!!!”
The UFC and FOX Sports re-aired the entire pay-per-view, including the five-round main event bout. Currently, Jones is set to defend his belt vs. Glover Teixeira in early 2014, while Gustafsson is expected to fight around the same time against another top contender.
