The World Series of Fighting (WSOF) is looking to book welterweight champion Steve Carl and Jon Fitch in the near future. Fitch is down and sees it as a possible way to get that third fight with Josh Burkman.
“I don’t see anybody else that would be in a position to fight for the title right now,” said Fitch on MMA Junkie Radio. “I’d love that opportunity, and get a chance to have Burkman fight somebody else. [It] could set us up down the road if I beat Carl.”
Fitch joined the WSOF and lost in his debut to Burkman via a first minute choke. Their first meeting saw Fitch take a win over Burkman for the UFC.
Carl won the inaugural welterweight title by submitting Burkman. It ended Burkman’s three fight win streak for the WSOF.
The WSOF is yet to confirm Fitch vs. Carl.
