Jake Ellenberger was starting to gain momentum when Rory MacDonald defeated him over the summer. With that lackluster performance, Ellenberger is looking to stay alive in the division and hopes for a big name before the year ends.
One of the few welterweights not currently booked is Martin Kampmann, who Ellenberger has a past history with. Kampmann stopped Ellenberger in the first encounter.
“I’m just looking for someone in the top 10,” said Ellenberger to MMA Fighting. “[Kampmann] is a good possibility right now. That’s something I’d definitely look forward to. UFC hasn’t offered me yet so I just have to wait. I’m always highly motivated to fight. I’m excited be back in there against a top 10 opponent.”
Kampmann is currently riding a pair of defeats. Johny Hendricks made quick work of him and Carlos Condit would need four rounds for Fight of the Night.
Ellenberger wants a spot on UFC 168, which is December 28 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
