Jake Collier, a father of three who admits that his family “lives off quarters,” earned his initial Octagon victory Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 68.

Collier pulled out a split decision over Ricardo Abreu after stepping up on short notice as a replacement for Daniel Sarafian.

The 26-year-old Collier (9-2) lost to Vitor Miranda via first round TKO in December, snapping his five-fight win streak.

“This is a dream come true,” said Collier, who had tears in his eyes after the decision was announced. “We live off quarters at the end of the week and my wife has allowed me to do this.”

The two, who engaged in an all-out-brawl over the final seconds of the fight, exchanged strikes. But Collier mixed his, landing several leg kicks to counter the takedowns from Abreu (5-1).

“We knew he would put me in bad positions,” he said. “Ricardo is a world champion in jiu-jitsu, so we just focused on getting back up to the feet.”
