Mike Winkeljohn’s Facebook page provided an update to the extent of Jon Jones’ possible injury after his successful title defense Saturday night.
Though vanilla, the page read a statement saying, “Jon Jones showed true grit tonight fighting through a badly injured foot, possibly shattered…early on in the fight. It may have slowed him down but he stayed the course.”
Winkeljohn was the main man in his corner, as Ontario commission rules regulated that just three people could be in the corner during the main event. That left Greg Jackson on the sidelines, as he was the fourth man listed for Jones.
Jones earned a decision over Alexander Gustafsson, claiming his sixth title defense and 10th consecutive UFC win.
