Marina Shafir, a member of Ronda Rousey’s “Four Horsewomen,” has signed a deal with Invicta FC, the promotion announced recently.
Shafir is 1-1 as a pro after going 5-0 as an amateur fighter with five submission wins to her credit. The 27-year-old bested Chandra Engel via submission – with an armbar – in 2014 before losing to Amanda Bell later that year via knockout.
Much like Rousey, Shafir scored three straight armbar finishes in just under four minutes of action in her first three amateur fights. She locked up an armbar each time, adding an arm-triangle choke victory in her fourth amateur bout.
Training out of the Glendale Fighting Club alongside teammates Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, the featherweight is expected to make her debut with Invicta later this year.
