Gray Maynard vs. Jim Miller Round 2: Maynard came out aggressive. Miller landed a couple of shots, but Maynard's shots had more behind them. Maynard landed some more hard punches. Miller finally got a takedown, but Maynard was able to get to his feet quickly. Miller's face is busted up. Maynard kept landing shots and picking Miller apart as the round ended. 10-9 Maynard. Round 3: The fight stayed standing early with both fighters trading punches. Miller landed a good body kick. Maynard hit a big slam but Miller went for a knee bar and Maynard quickly got back up to his feet. They went to the ground and Maynard landed some big punches. The two circled each other for a bit as the round came to a close. 10-9 Maynard. Winner by unanimous decision (all judges scored it 30-27): Gray Maynard A promo for UFC 97 aired. The main bouts are Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites and Chuck Liddell vs. Shogun Rua. Gabriel Gonzaga was shown backstage getting ready for his fight.
Matt Hamill vs. Mark Munoz Winner via KO at 3:53 of Round 1: Matt Hamill Frank Mir was interviewed by Mike Goldberg and confirmed that the fight with Brock Lesnar is off for May. He said he wants the fight to happen on July 11th. Rashad Evans was then interviewed and it was confirmed that the main event for the May show. If Jardine beats Rampage tonight, Evans will face Lyoto Machida, otherwise he'll face Rampage. Brock Lesnar was shown at ringside with his wife Rena.
Matt Brown vs. Pete Sell Winner via TKO at 1:32 of Round 1: Matt Brown Rampage and Jardine were shown in the back getting ready for their fight. They are showing the Kendall Grove - Jason Day fight from earlier.
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shane Carwin Winner via KO at 1:09 of Round 1: Shane Carwin Rashad Evans was interviewed again and he talked about how Keith Jardine was preparing for this fight.
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson vs. Keith Jardine Round 2: Rampage landed a leg kick early and Jardine landed one of his own. Jardine would land a couple of leg kicks and then Rampage rocked Jardine with a hard right and a flurry of punches. It looked like it was almost over but Jardine managed to escape. Rampage then took Jardine down but they ended up back on their feet. Jardine caught Rampage low and the action stopped for a minute. Jardine then pushed forward and nailed a bunch of punches on Rampage that rocked him. Good back and forth round. The two traded blows and then tied up against the cage to end of the round. Tough round to call, I'd score it 10-9 for Rampage. Round 3: Both guys came out swinging. Rampage landed another leg kick and then took Jardine down and got in half guard. Jardine got up pretty quickly and they were clinched against the cage. Jardine hit Rampage with a big shot and followed up with leg kicks.Rampage rocked Jardine with a hook, but Jardine recovered. Rampage stuffed a takedown from Jardine and they're locked against the cage before the referee separated them. Rampage landed some hard shots that rocked Jardine again and then rocked Jardine with a hard right and a couple of punches as the fight ended which should cinch the fight for Rampage. Great fight, 10-9 Rampage. Winner via unanimous decision (scores of 29-28,29-28,30-27): Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson So it will be Rampage vs. Rashad Evans for the light heavyweight championship in May. Rashad Evans got in Rampage's face after the fight. Rampage was hilarious in his exchange with Evans and afterwards said "there's going to be some more black on black crime".
