Igor Araujo had a lot on his mind heading into UFC Fight Night 29. Not only was it his debut for the promotion, but his wife recently learned of a tumor. The tumor was removed the day before Araujo’s debut and is wife chose not to inform him so he would be focused on the fight
“Things are complicated now,” said Araujo. “My head was really messed up, but this is my dream and I wouldn’t let anyone take it from me. If I stop fighting tomorrow, I’m okay with that because my kids can buy a DVD one day and ask other people who their father is and they will know.”
By the end of the card, Araujo took a decision win from Ildemar Alcantara.
Araujo is 24-6 and has taken 16 submission victories. Only six times has he needed the judges. Alcantara’s nine fight win streak, where two occurred for the UFC, was snapped in the process.
UFC Fight Night 29 was October 9 from Brazil’s Ginásio José Corrêa.
