Holly Holm, a top prospect at bantamweight, will not make her Octagon debut this December at UFC 181 due to a neck injury.
Holm (7-0) appeared last week on “Inside MMA” to discuss the injury, which is already feeling better since receiving an injection in her neck.
“It’s been a couple weeks since it happened,” Holm said. “My neck was kind of hurting, and I kind of started taking it easy thinking it just needed a little bit of massage. And finally I had no activity in my triceps, so we figured we probably should get an MRI, and I had a herniated disc that was putting pressure on my nerves going down to the arm. It is a pretty big injury. I really didn’t want to cancel the fight.
Holm was a multi-time boxing champion in several different weight classes. She won the Legacy FC title this past April when he finished Juliana Werner despite suffering a broken arm in the fight.
