Gustafsson Says Manuwa’s “Dangerous” But Believes he Has “More Skills”

Although thousands of fans were hoping to see Alexander Gustafsson and Jon Jones do it all over again, following their epic war at UFC 165, a few things have to fall into place now before a rematch goes down. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for no?

Of course, before Jones-Gustafsson II can get booked, the light-heavyweight champ has to get by Glover Teixeira and “The Mauler” has to defeat Jimi Manuwa. Fighters Only Magazine recently caught up with Gustafsson to discuss his recent placement on the front cover of EA Sport’s UFC game, as well as the aforementioned bouts.

As far as Manua, who Gustafsson will battle March 8th in London, here’s what “The Mauler” had to say about the rising fighter:

“He’s a great fighter, 14 wins and 14 finishes. He is a very dangerous guy but I believe I have more skills than he has. You never know how the fight is going to go but I am going to make sure that I am the best version of Alex Gustafsson I can be.”

Manuwa hasn’t fought the promotion’s top tier competition yet, but he’s certainly demonstrated he’s dangerous, no question. And what about Jones-Teixeira?

“I think Jones will win that fight. Glover is a tough guy but Jones has too many weapons and too many different ways to win.”

Jones and Teixeira will throw down at UFC 172, which is expected to take place April 12th, but has yet to have it’s location confirmed.

So, if Jones-Gustafsson does take place, chances are it won’t happen until late summer, early fall…
