Carlos Condit isn’t a man to stand and strike with according to his coach Greg Jackson. His UFC Fight Night 27 win over Martin Kampmann proved Jackson’s theory correct.
“You don’t want to strike with Carlos as bad things happen,” said Jackson to Sherdog. “I had a pretty good idea he was going to go for the takedown.”
In the fourth round, Condit took the fight in the opening minute.
With the win, Jackson thinks Condit will need one more victory before he gets another chance at welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre. If that’s the case, like the first time, Jackson won’t be involved in a fight which features two people from his gym.
St-Pierre got the decision win at UFC 154 in his return following an ACL injury. Condit was the interim champion while he was away.
The win over Kampmann makes Condit 29-7 and snaps his two fight losing skid.
