Glover Teixeira will be paying extra close attention to UFC 165. The winner between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson is set to defend against Teixeira. As for Teixeira, he breaks the fight down in favor of Jones.
“I expect this to be a tough fight, but I believe Jones is more complete,” said Teixeira to MMA Fighting. “His wrestling and jiu-jitsu are better, and he will win. I believe he will take [Gustafsson] down and finish. That’s the way I see this fight going.”
If Jones does win, he breaks the division record with title defense number six. He won the belt in March 2011 and has defeated several former champions since then.
Gustafsson comes from Sweden and is 15-1. It will be his first fight since defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last December.
They headline UFC 165 which is this Saturday, September 21. It’s out of the Air Canada Centre.
Teixeira got his fifth straight UFC win by submitting Ryan Bader in minutes at UFC Fight Night 28.
