Glover Teixeira: “I’m Back, Coming For Daniel Cormier”

ufc fight night 73

During an interview before UFC Fight Night 73, Glover Teixeira told light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier he was coming for him.

Teixeira, a former title contender himself, snapped a two-fight losing skid with a third round submission win over Ovince Saint Preux in the main event.

The Brazilian locked up a rear-naked choke and put OSP to sleep. He had lost to then-UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Phil Davis after winning 20 consecutive bouts.

“I’m back,” Teixeira said. “My last performance was bad. I told myself if I wanted to keep fighting I had to restart. I was in such good condition (thanks to my coaches).”

Teixeira had little trouble taking Saint Preux down and working for submissions. While he wasn’t able to finish it in the first two rounds, he had wore out the hometown favorite.

“Saint Preux is a tough fighter, he hit me with a liver shot,” Teixeira said. “I had to take him down.”

After the performance, Teixeira reiterated his plans to come for Cormier and the belt.

“Cormier, I’m coming for you,” he said. “I’m on the right track.”

Working the post-fight show on FOX Sports 1, Cormier informed Teixeira that he “has some work to do.”
