Glover Teixeira’s first-round TKO over Ryan Bader was enough in the eyes of UFC president Dana White Wednesday night.
Teixeira, who defeated Bader at UFC Fight Night 28, was confirmed as the next UFC light heavyweight contender following his win.
White informed UFC Director of International Development, Marshall Zelaznik, that Teixeira would be viewed as the challenger-in-waiting. UFC 205-pound champion Jon Jones defends his title against Alexander Gustafsson later this month at UFC 165.
The win was the 20th in a row for Teixeira and fifth straight since joining the UFC.
