After earning two victories in one night at Glory 19 recently, Nieky Holzken will get his chance to official wear the welterweight title soon.
Officials confirmed Holzken as the No. 1 contender to Joe Valtellini, who he defeated in 2013.
“I consider the welterweight title belt to be mine,” Holzken said during the post-fight press conference. “I beat Valtellini and then I had to take 2014 off because I got injured in a car accident in January.
“So he’s got the belt right now but I am coming for it. Valtellini is good and it is going to be a good fight but the belt belongs to me and it will be coming home with me.”
Holzken stopped Raymond Daniels after dropping him four times, while he also earned a decision over Alexander Stetcurenko.
