It wasn’t without controversy, but Simon Marcus left Chicago’s Sears Centre and Glory 27 with the middleweight title this past Friday night.
Marcus earned a third round disqualification victory over reigning champion Artem Levin after Levin exited the ring. He was upset by a point deduction handed down by the referee, leaving Marcus standing alone.
Dustin Jacoby won a one-night tournament to be crowned the No. 1 contender to Marcus, besting Wayne Barrett in the finals via TKO.
Joe Schilling, who competes for Bellator MMA, earned a win on the UFC Fight Pass Superfight Series portion of the card. The main card streamed live on ESPN3.
The next Glory event is scheduled to March 12 from Paris and will feature heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven defending his title against Mladen Brestovac, along with light heavyweight champion Saulo Cavalari doing the same vs. Artem Vakhitov and featherweight titleholder Sergey Adamchuk defending vs. Mosab Amrani.
