Georges St-Pierre making a return to the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto is not going to happen.
St-Pierre, a former UFC welterweight champion, appeared on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” and revealed that he is a free agent after his contract was terminated with the UFC.
“I’m a free agent,” St-Pierre said.
GSP stated that he felt progress was being made in regards to getting him back into the UFC and competing. But when the promotion was sold from Zuffa to WME|IMG, talks froze.
He also revealed that a fight with former champion Robbie Lawler was offered before his lawyer’s self-imposed deadline for a deal to get done came and passed.
“I was very pumped up a few weeks ago when we talked,” St-Pierre said. “Now, I’m not as pumped up as I was. I’m entering unknown water, unknown territory. I just don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
