Stipe Miocic’s manager has interest in putting together a fight with Gabriel Gonzaga and it’s one step closer to happening. Gonzaga’s coach Marco Alvan said it’s a great way for his fighter to enter the Top 10 of the division.
“Stipe is a great fighter, we all know that, and he would be a great challenge, but Gonzaga has fought some of the best for a long time,” said Alvan to MMA Fighting. “Gonzaga believes in his striking and he would go there to try to knock him out. Gonzaga hits harder and has everything to add another knockout to his record.”
Gonzaga is 4-1 since returning to the UFC. The loss came to Travis Browne and Gonzaga attempted to have it overturned due to what he claimed were illegal shots to the back of the head. This year he’s claimed quick round one stoppages from Dave Herman and Shawn Jordan.
Stipe Miocic defeated Roy Nelson via decision in his final appearance this year. He’s 4-1 for the UFC.
The two are currently not linked to any fights.
