Former UFC champion Frankie Edgar got his moment in the spotlight, scoring a decision victory over Jeremy Stephens in the prelim main event of UFC 205 Saturday night.
“The Answer” improved to 6-1 over his last seven and 21-5-1 overall in his fight career.
After being announced as the winner, Edgar asked for a spot on the 2017 UFC card set for Brooklyn. The New Jersey native was excited to be fighting in Madison Square Garden.
“(Toms River) made it to the Garden baby,” Edgar said. “I love you. (Stephens) rung my bell, but it wouldn’t be a Frankie fight without that.”
For Stephens, the loss dropped him to 25-13 overall and 2-2 over his last four.
