Frankie Edgar To Conor McGregor: I’m Coming For My Belt

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar was a guest analyst this past weekend for FOX Sports 1’s coverage of UFC 196.

Edgar saw first-hand Conor McGregor get submitted by Nate Diaz in the main event, and promptly made sure everyone knew he wanted to re-welcome the UFC featherweight champion to 145 pounds.

“I’m assuming he has no other choice but to come back down and defend his featherweight title and I’m waiting him,” Edgar said. “I know (Jose) Aldo is vying for the rematch. He had his chance. Conor beat Aldo in 13 seconds.

I’m coming for it and I’m getting my belt. There’s an unknown with me. I’m going to be bothering these guys. I want this fight.”

The 34-year-old Edgar (20-4-1) has scored five consecutive victories since a 2013 loss to Aldo for the belt. That includes finishes of BJ Penn, Cub Swanson and most recently, Chad Mendes.
