Former UFC champion Frank Shamrock is long retired and there’s nothing pulling him out of his current status. The same couldn’t be said for Tito Ortiz, who is coming out of retirement and off major knee surgeries to take on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. They headline the first Bellator pay-per-view.
“I think they’re crazy,” said Shamrock to MMA Fighting. “I look back at my life fighting and I can’t believe I did all that. This sport is totally nuts. I hope those guys perform well. I know what it’s like to be older and banged up.”
Shamrock did state the only MMA promotion to make money in North America was the UFC. While the odds are stacked against Bellator, Shamrock wants them to succeed.
Over the summer, Shamrock was part of Bellator’s Fight Master. The reality show saw him take the role as one of four coaches.
Bellator 106 is November 2 from the Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA.
