Hey, The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale Really Is This Friday (Editorial)

Quick, what do you MMA fans plan on doing Friday night?

What, you mean you aren’t going to tune in and watch The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale on FOX Sports 1?

Oh, you didn’t know it was going down this week either? Have no fear, as you are not in the minority this time around.

If you take a look at the current fight card for Friday’s event – which means in just five days the action hits the Octagon – the lineup is light on bouts. Just five fights have been announced, with the finals to include a battle for the UFC female flyweight belt.

The current season of The Ultimate Fighter is being used to determine the two who will meet, with Nicco Montano having already clinched a spot. Roxanne Modafferi and Sijara Eubanks meet Wednesday night to decide the other finalist. Montano upset No. 2 seed Barb Honchak, and with the lack of press for the event, one might wonder if Eubanks stuns top-seed Modafferi in the semis.

One would expect several of the TUF fighters to be present on the card from the Park Theater.

The coaches, though, will meet Saturday on UFC 218’s pay-per-view main card when Justin Gaethje takes on Eddie Alvarez. That right there should tell you how much the UFC is concerned with this event.

Either way, live MMA is live MMA. So along with Bellator 189, which features a female featherweight title fight between champion Julia Budd and Arlene Blencowe, we have plenty to pay attention on this week.
