Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo Headed To Bantamweight
By Joseph Lisnow | February 01, 2013
2008 Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo, will make his debut later this spring. When he does so, it will be at a heavier weight than his American wrestling days. He will compete in the bantamweight division.
"Cutting weight to 121 pounds is very difficult," said Cejudo's representative William McFarlane. "He was a natural 130 pounder when he competed in 2008. He's a natural 140 pounder now and still walking around with five percent body fat."
The 2006 National High School Wrestler of the Year and youngest U.S. Olympic gold medalist announced on Wednesday that he would be transitioning into MMA.
Cejudo's first fight is expected for late March or early April.
