UFC on FX was an awful show for Rousimar Palhares (14-5). Not only did he get knocked out in the first round by Hector Lombard (32-3-1-1 NC), but following the fight he was suspended for nine months when a drug test revealed he had an elevated testosterone level. Brazilian Top Team manager Murilo Bustamante doesn't believe that his fighter was on anything illegal and is exploring the supplements that Palhares was taking to explain the results."I was very surprised because we knew he would be tested and this was the second most important fight," said Bustamante to TATAME. "He told me he did not take anything. He was taking supplements and we will test all these products to know what happened. "
Palhares injured his foot during the fight and has plenty of time to heel since he was handed a nine month suspension for the failed drug test.
The loss makes Palhares 7-4 since joining the UFC in 2008. It marks the first time Palhares has been suspended for drugs and he's able to resume fighting on September 14.
Palhares has not made any attempts to challenge the suspension.
