Jeremy Stephens Has Trial Postponed Until April
By Dana Becker | January 11, 2013
Jeremy Stephens' trial stemming from a 2011 incident has been pushed back until April, according to documents on the Polk County (Iowa) online courthouse. The trial was set to begin January 9.
Stephens is charged with two felonies and a serious misdemeanor. The felonies are serious injury (class C) and burglary in the first degree (class B). The serious misdemeanor is assault causing bodily injury.
Late in 2012, Stephens was arrested as he prepared to face Yves Edwards in Minnesota. With the state being a border to Iowa, officers were allowed to apprehend Stephens and take him into custody. The bout was rescheduled, and Stephens lost, prompting a decision to move to featherweight for his next fight.
