Cub Swanson Says Fight With Dennis Siver Is No. 1 Contender Match
By Dana Becker | January 10, 2013
Cub Swanson will face Dennis Siver at UFC On Fuel TV: Barao Vs. McDonald next month. And, the co-main event bout from London just received a little more importance, according to Swanson."I'm being told my fight with Dennis Siver is for #1 contender," Swanson posted on Twitter. "I'm gonna kill it."
Swanson (18-5) has won three straight since a submission loss to Ricardo Lamas in his UFC debut. He has stopped all three opponents, earning TKO victories over George Roop and Ross Pearson, and a knockout of Charles Oliveira.
A win could position Swanson for a rematch with current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. The two met in the WEC back in 2009, and Aldo scored an eight-second TKO victory in highlight-reel fashion with a double flying knee.
Siver (21-8) is 6-1 in his last seven, including two consecutive wins. His only loss during his current stretch came to Donald Cerrone in late 2011.
