Maurício "Shogun" Rua (22-6) made a name for himself with his lethal soccer kicks in Pride. After the company ceased operations Rua went to the UFC, where those kinds of kicks to downed opponents are illegal.

"I hope one day the UFC allows stomps," said Rua to MMA Junkie. "The sport's changed a lot, the rules. It's uncertainty every day. You try to make things better and improve, so everything in our lives changes."

The UFC is unlikely to change their stance on the rule anytime soon.

In the meantime, Rua has plenty ahead of him. Later today, he takes on Alexander Gustafsson (14-1) in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 5 from Seattle, WA. Dana White announced the winner will be the No. 1 contender to the light heavyweight championship. Check back at FightLine this afternoon for live coverage of the show.
