Ronda Rousey Presented UFC Championship, Will Face Liz Carmouche At UFC 157

UFC president Dana White carried a UFC championship to the press conference on Thursday for UFC On Fox: Henderson Vs. Diaz. After fielding several questions, White announced that Ronda Rousey is the first-ever female champion in the UFC.

Also, White went on to announce Rousey's first fight, as the former Olympian will face Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC 157 on February 23 from Anaheim.

"I got a lot of respect for Liz because she was the only one that wanted this fight right now," Rousey said. "It speaks loud to her. When other girls want to come around, come to the big show, they know where I am at."

Rousey was greeted to a loud ovation when given the UFC title. She expressed her disappointment in not facing Cris Cyborg first, but White said the bout would likely be the next female fight.

"That was the fight we wanted to make, we worked hard to make that fight," White said. "I believe that this fight will happen."

Carmouche is 7-2 in her career, including two consecutive victories. Rousey is a perfect 6-0 with all six victories coming via first round armbar.
